JOB SUMMARY:
Join SaskPower’s Business Strategy team—a group committed to transforming Procurement and Contracts into a strategic, agile function. As a Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in driving supply chain excellence through advanced data analysis, strategic planning, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
This position focuses on leveraging spend analytics, enterprise plans, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities that deliver value and efficiency. You will review key contracts, lead strategic discussions, and validate strategies aligned with SaskPower’s corporate objectives. This role requires a champion of innovation who can foster strong relationships and deliver measurable results.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop and implement strategies, processes, and policies that support SaskPower’s business objectives.
- Analyze spend data, market intelligence, and industry benchmarks to identify cost-saving and operational improvement opportunities.
- Review and optimize key contracts for long-term value creation and risk mitigation.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing expert guidance on procurement strategies, category management, and contract governance.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects and strategic planning initiatives.
- Represent SaskPower in supplier forums, industry associations, and external collaborations; deliver presentations and training as required.
- Maintain awareness of industry developments and adapt best practices to SaskPower’s operational environment.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or other related equivalent AND/OR;
• Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation would be considered an asset AND/OR;
• Five (5) years of related procurement and strategic sourcing experience
• Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
• Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
• Excellent analytical, research and problem solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work and manage in a changing environment
• Excellent facilitation, project management and decision making skills
• Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
• Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies
• Must have a continuing record of professional development
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered
