The role will be required to successfully pass Site Access Security Clearance (CSIS Level 1).

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Looking for a Specialist, Nuclear Business Technology (Network) to be part of an agile, innovative team focused on secure, reliable, and regulated technology environments. The role is accountable for the development, configuration, maintenance, and support of network environments, including network architecture, integration, and security, as part of the Technology & Security. 

As a member of SaskPower’s out of scope team, this position is responsible to act as a leader and central point of contact, providing expert advice and direction related to network services supporting business operations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

•    Plan, research, develop, evaluate, and implement processes, policies, and procedures utilized for strategies and initiatives related to network operations, configuration, maintenance, and architecture
•    Act as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Azure network environments, providing technical expertise and guidance related to network design, integration, and support
•    Ensure adherence to corporate standards including security, architecture, and technology governance requirements
•    Ensure compliance with regulatory, cybersecurity, and other requirements applicable to nuclear and regulated environments
•    Design, configure, and maintain network components such as Azure VNets, Azure Firewalls, and secure connectivity, architectures, peering, segmentation, and connectivity across environments
•    Configure, maintain, and support network services including firewalls, load balancers,  domain services, and network management tools
•    Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network-related issues to ensure availability, performance, reliability, and security of IT environments
•    Optimize network environments for performance, resilience, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness
•    Work collaboratively with DevOps, security, architecture, and other IT teams to support integrated technology solutions
•    Document network configurations, standards, procedures, and best practices to support operational continuity and compliance
•    Represent the department and prepare and present material to internal and external audiences as required
•    Foster a culture focused on safety, reliability, innovation, and teamwork within nuclear IT environments
•    Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices related to area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower’s operational environment
•    Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

•    Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related equivalent AND/OR;
•    Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s), including networking and/or Azure certifications, AND/OR;
•    Five (5) years of related network engineering or network specialist experience, preferably involving Microsoft Azure and cloud-based network environments
•    Experience in network operations, configuration, maintenance, and support within enterprise or regulated environments
•    Proficiency in network integration, connectivity, and peering across complex environments
•    Hands-on experience with Azure services such as Virtual Networks, Firewalls, Storage, Compute, and Identity Management
•    Experience in designing and supporting highly secure IT solutions; experience in regulated environments would be considered an asset
•    Strong knowledge of networking principles and network security best practices
•    Experience establishing and maintaining standards such as reference models, process models, architecture frameworks, and methods
•    Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
•    Innovative and results-oriented thinker with the ability to provide advice and guidance regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
•    Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Ability to work and adapt in a changing environment
•    Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation, and teamwork
•    Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies
•    Must have a continuing record of professional development
