JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Business Advisor assists in leading the development of strategic policy for SaskPower, as well as augmenting the development of corporate strategy. This includes the need to consider the broader public policy implications of electricity within Saskatchewan in cooperation with Executive Government and Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan. The Senior Business Advisor is also accountable to provide leadership and direction to a portfolio of projects or work functions. As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position is responsible for the effective utilization of people, material, financial resources and human capital in order to manage, coordinate and lead major projects/departmental work functions from start to finish; ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives. 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Facilitate cross-functional team collaboration, as well as support executive leadership and stakeholders in developing strategic policy.
• Lead and participate in projects and initiatives identifying current and future business needs, industry best practices, opportunities, and challenges.
• Develop, organize, and deliver presentations, reports, and briefings for internal and external audiences.

Provide leadership and direction to project personnel, including SaskPower and contract employees on project(s) and major business initiatives
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget 
• Prepare and submit project budget estimates and tender evaluations in alignment with departmental strategic plans and forecasting initiatives 
• Plan and prepare schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules 
• Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors 
• Develop and implement quality control programs
• Represent company on matters both internal and external to the corporation 
• Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients, senior management and executive
• Other related duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:


• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a related field AND/OR;
• Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
• Years of experience in a specific field of expertise and/or a variety of project roles including managing, leading and coordinating major projects
• Ability to strategize, plan and organize
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
• Results oriented thinker, with the ability to influence and manage complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism 
• Ability to meet deadlines and deals with quick turnaround
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism 
• Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
• Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies
• Must have a continuing record of professional development
