This position falls within the requirement for Personnel Risk Assessment to meet compliance requirements of NERC-CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection). A Criminal Record Check must be valid and/or completed prior to being appointed to this position and then on a recurring basis every seven (7) years.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Reliability & Portfolio Management team, this position is responsible for assisting with and/or preparing technical studies and Root Cause Analysis (RCAs), business cases, designs, criteria and specifications. This position will be responsible for evaluating, reporting and recommending Corrective Action Plan (CAPs) to improve the performance of the SaskPower Transmission and Sub-transmission system and to optimize the management of project portfolios ensuring alignment with long term departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Learn and become familiar with assigned technical tasks, methodologies and practices.
- Assist and/or perform power system performance assessments and RCAs, including: disturbance analysis, operational performance analysis, trending/analytical analysis and associated reporting.
- Assist in developing key Reliability and Performance Indices (KPIs); including target setting.
- Assist and/or perform system analysis and asset specific reliability statistical analysis for the purpose of identifying performance gaps and improvement opportunities and complying with standards, including NERC requirements.
- Participate in risk framework development and maintenance activities.
- Assist and/or perform contingency studies and risk assessments related to preparation of system development and maintenance and capital plans.
- Assist and/or perform technical analysis of new or innovative, reliability improvement solutions or technology and make recommendations for pilot projects to test feasibility and applicability.
- Assist in developing risk criteria, guidelines and practices based upon corporate performance objectives, established standards, current technologies and best industry practices and methodologies.
- Assist in providing direction to technologists, technicians, consultants, other external technical agencies and SaskPower staff.
- Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering specializing in Power Systems; Higher level degree may be an asset.
- Eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan
- Experience in electrical power system engineering, analysis of power systems or asset management would be an asset.
- Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Ability to work and manage in a changing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent facilitation, project management and decision making skills.
- Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development.
