This is a safety-sensitive position, the successful candidate(s) will be required to successfully complete mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol testing to comply with SaskPower’s Fit for Duty Policy.

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The employee in this classification is responsible for the supervision, coordination and leadership of the day-to-day activities of SaskPower Employees to ensure efficient and effective daily operations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

• Supervise, coach and train staff and monitor and participate in staff performance evaluation
• Anticipate, coordinate and monitor work of assigned staff, while engaging others in order to reach goals and objectives
• Proactively anticipate potential problems, identify core issues and draw accurate conclusions to resolve
• Act independently and responsibly in order to make day-to-day decisions independent from direct supervision
• Follow through on tasks using a methodical approach to decision making
• Coordinate and implement departmental strategies, employee work plans, schedules, coaching, on-going feedback, performance reviews and professional development
• Provide departmental leadership, promote teamwork and initiate staff development and performance objective management in order to develop and sustain a high level of employee and departmental performance
• Participate in day-to-day work activities, including administrative and communication functions
• Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of processes, standards and procedures including training delivery and support
• Make recommendations to improve employee work performance, and improve efficiency, effectiveness and quality of service
• Adhere to and enforce applicable safety and environmental practices, standards, regulations and corporate commitments
• Participate in continuous educational and professional development as required
• Other related duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

• Second Class Power Engineer’s Certificate and valid Second Class License, or equivalent AND;
• Two (2) years of related process operations experience at the board operation level, or equivalent
• Ability to supervise and foster a team environment to obtain maximum performance from staff engaged in a variety of assignments
• Ability to work collaboratively with, mentor and coach various internal and external personnel at a variety of levels
• Excellent communication, coordination and organizational skills
• Ability to handle all situations in a professional and courteous manner
• Ability to develop relationships and engage and influence others
• Ability to deal with pressure and conflict, while holding people accountable and recommending solutions to difficult situations
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate a number of diverse items in order to accomplish assigned tasks
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of the corporations standard software
• Ability to update and maintain applicable licences, as required
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence

 

 This position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.
